Setup Guide for Advanced Staff

This guide covers the configuration and setup procedures that must be completed before race day. It is intended for advanced timing staff who configure the systems that operators will use.

Who This Guide Is For

This guide is for advanced timing staff who:

  • Configure Time Machine network settings

  • Set up RaceDay Scoring streams and timing locations

  • Configure scored events

  • Prepare test tags

  • Support field operators on race day

Prerequisites

Before starting setup, ensure you have:

  • Administrative access to RaceDay Scoring

  • Time Machine V3 reader(s) with power and cables

  • Network equipment (cables, switches, or WiFi configuration)

  • Timing mats and connecting cables

  • Test tags for verification

Setup Workflow

Complete these steps in order before race day:

Step Description

1. Time Machine Configuration

Power on, set IP addresses, verify basic operation

2. Network Setup

Configure network connectivity between Time Machine and laptop

3. RaceDay Streams

Create streams in RaceDay Scoring for each reader

4. Timing Locations

Configure Start, Finish, and Split locations

5. Scored Events

Set up events, age groups, and scoring rules

6. Test Tag Configuration

Configure test tags that operators can use for verification

Operator Handoff

Once setup is complete, field operators need:

  • Working equipment at their timing location

  • Access to RaceDay Scoring

  • Test tag for verification

  • Understanding of Race Day Operations
