Status Indicators

This page explains what the various indicators on the Time Machine V3 mean.

LCD Status Display

The LCD display shows key system information.

Network Status

Display Meaning

Network Connected

Unit is connected to laptop/network

Network Disconnected

No network connection - check cables

IP Address shown

Network is configured correctly

Logging Status

Display Meaning

Logging Active

Reads are being recorded to file

Logging Stopped

Reads are NOT being saved - investigate

File name shown

Current log file name

Transmit Status

Display Meaning

TX Low/Med/High

Current transmission power level

TX Error

Problem with transmit - check antenna cables

Tag Read Activity Indicator

The tag activity light is your most important indicator during a race.

Behaviour Meaning

Flashes with each chip crossing

System is detecting chips correctly

No flash when chip crosses

Problem - check antenna connections

Constant on/off without chips

Possible interference or malfunction

Use your test tag to verify the tag activity indicator is working correctly.

Receiver Status Indicators

Show whether the antennas are receiving signals.

Behaviour Meaning

Stable illumination

Antenna connected and receiving

Off or flickering

Antenna connection issue

Battery Voltage Indicator

Shows remaining battery charge.

Level Action

Full/High

Good to go

Medium

Monitor during race, consider external power

Low

Connect external power immediately

Always fully charge the reader before race day or connect external power.

Router/WiFi Indicators (if using WiFi)

Indicator Meaning

Solid light

Connected to network

Blinking

Activity/searching

Off

No WiFi connection

Quick Reference

Green = Good

Most green indicators mean the system is working correctly.

Flashing = Activity

Flashing usually indicates activity (chip reads, network traffic).

Red/Off = Attention Needed

Red lights or unexpected "off" states require investigation.

Normal Operating State

During a race, you should see:

  • LCD showing network connected, logging active

  • Tag activity flashing with each chip crossing

  • Battery indicator at adequate level

  • No error messages on LCD
