Scored Events determine how participants are grouped and ranked in results.

Understanding Scored Events

A Scored Event defines:

  • Which participants are included

  • How they are categorised (age groups, gender, etc.)

  • How results are calculated

  • What awards are given

Creating Events

Basic Event Setup

  1. Navigate to Scoring in RaceDay Scoring

  2. Create a new Scored Event

  3. Configure event name and settings

  4. Assign to participants

Individual

Standard race with individual results

Team

Team scoring (cross country, relays)

Multi-Distance

Events with different course lengths

Participant Assignment

Participants can be assigned to events by:

  • Registration category

  • Bib number range

  • Manual assignment

Age Groups

Creating Age Groups

  1. Navigate to Age Groups

  2. Add age group ranges

  3. Configure how age is calculated

Common Age Group Structures

Running events:

Overall, 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Cycling events:

Junior (U19), Senior (19-34), Masters 35+, Masters 45+, Masters 55+

Age Calculation

Choose when age is calculated:

  • Age on race day

  • Age on specific date (end of year)

Gender Categories

Configure gender-based categories:

  • Male / Female

  • Combined (overall)

  • Non-binary options if supported

Top Finisher Categories

Create overall winner categories:

  • Top X Male

  • Top X Female

  • Top X Overall

Chip Time vs Gun Time

Configure which time is used for results:

Option Description

Gun Time

Time from race start signal to finish

Chip Time

Time from individual start line crossing to finish

This can be set per event or for all events.

Awards Configuration

Configure how many places receive awards:

  • Overall awards

  • Age group awards

  • Team awards (if applicable)

Testing Scored Events

  1. Import test participants

  2. Assign to events

  3. Generate sample reads

  4. Verify results calculate correctly

  5. Check age groups and categories

Special Configurations

Prediction Runs

For timed events where participants predict their finish time.

Challenge/Combo Events

For events combining multiple distances or days.

Cross Country Scoring

Special team scoring rules for cross country races.
